4-year Secondary Technical School of Building Construction It educates specialists in building who, at the end of their studies, receive the title of a building construction technician and can work in geodesy, for a building design firm or a building company. The school may also be a good preparation for academic studies of Architecture, Geodesy, Interior Design or the similar. Apart from the theoretical knowledge, the institution organizes practical training for students so as to give them some job experience. Like other secondary schools, it gives students general education so that they can take, in the last grade, the Matura Exam (equivalent of British A-levels). During the course of studies students are encouraged to take part in different contests and competitions. 4-year Secondary Technical School of Commerce It prepares students to work in business, book-keeping offices or similar places. The school makes a good basis for university studies of Economics, Marketing, Business Management, Advertisement or Statistics. It also provides students with some practical training in the 2nd and 3rd grades, and, at the end of the studies, students receive the title of a commerce technician. As students are also taught general knowledge, they are able to take the final secondary school exam called the Matura. 4-year Secondary Technical School of Gastronomic Services It has been training specialists in gastronomy for 15 years and offers the most modern cooking labs in the region of Opole. After completing this school, students are qualified to work in restaurants, hotels, holiday resorts as well as to start their own business in the gastronomy sector. As far as practical training is concerned, students get it not only on the spot but also are sent to restaurants or hotels to have apprenticeship there. What is more, the school facilitates academic studies of Dietetics or Hotel Industry. In the last grade students take two exams: their final secondary school exam (the Matura) as well as the technical exam to become a technician of organization of gastronomic services. 4-year Secondary Technical School of Culinary Skills It was started on 1st September 2006 as a response to the growing demand for specialists in the gastronomy sector, especially chefs. After completing the 4-year course, students will be able to find employment in all sorts of restaurants and bars as well as canteens or cafeterias. Apart from the general education (enabling them to take the Matura exam), students are provided with a remarkable amount of practical knowledge. 3-year Secondary Technical School of Further Education with Culinary Specialization: This type of school is available for the students who have completed the 2-year vocational school of culinary skills. The course, as the Technical School of Culinary Skills, gives students the opportunity to take the Matura and the technical exams at the end of their studies. It also provides students with the practical training in restaurants or canteens and an amount of technical knowledge taught during such subjects as: dietetics, gastronomic technology, equipment in the gastronomy business, organization of gastronomy business and economics, cookery classes, foreign technical language and work safety. |
